Cybersecurity Awareness Training for SA Teams | NETCONFIG

Cybersecurity training that stops the curious click

We all know someone who has clicked a link that looked a little too good to be true. We help your team spot the tricks, so one quick click doesn’t turn into a very long week.

You’ve won!

Two ways to build a team that thinks before it clicks

Every business is different, so we offer two options. Use one, or mix them. Most teams do both.

Always on

usecure: training that runs itself

A friendly online platform that teaches your team a little at a time, checks how they’re doing and keeps the lessons coming without you having to chase anyone.

Face to face

Live workshops with Keshnie

A real person, real examples and real conversations. Keshnie takes your team through what ransomware is, why it matters and what to do when things go sideways.

Is staff training part of POPIA?

POPIA doesn’t hand you a training checklist. It does expect “appropriate, reasonable technical and organisational measures” to protect personal information (section 19). Its regulations also make your Information Officer responsible for making sure internal awareness sessions are conducted.

Training your team is one of the most practical ways to show you’re taking those measures seriously. If you’d like help with the wider picture, see our Managed POPIA service or our data protection solutions.

Online cybersecurity awareness training: little lessons, big difference

usecure is a cybersecurity awareness training platform. In plain terms, it helps your people understand online dangers and helps you see where your business may be most exposed. Each person gets training that suits their role and how they’re doing, so nobody is bored or buried.

  • Security awareness training

Short, interactive lessons on staying safe online. Think bite-sized, not boardroom-snooze.

  • Practice phishing emails

Safe, realistic fake scam emails that show who might fall for the real thing. No harm done, plenty learnt.

  • Policy management

One place to share your company’s security policies and see who has read and accepted them.

  • Dark web monitoring

An alert if your team’s email details turn up in leaked data, so passwords can be changed quickly.

  • Human risk reporting

Simple scores and insights that show how your team is improving over time.

  • Works where your team works

Lessons that fit around the working day, so nobody has to block out an afternoon.

Illustration only. Not real data.

The result: fewer risky moments, easier compliance and less admin for you.

Spot the trick in ten seconds

Scam emails love to look official. Here’s a made-up one, with the four giveaways our training teaches your team to notice.

Made-up example for training purposes.
  1. 1

The sender looks almost right. Look closely: letters swapped for numbers, odd spellings, a strange domain.

  2. 2

Pressure and threats. Scammers want you to act before you think.

  3. 3

A link you didn’t expect. Hover over it first to see where it really goes.

  4. 4

An attachment from nowhere. If you weren’t expecting it, don’t open it.

The ransomware workshop, with Keshnie

Ransomware is when criminals lock up your files and demand payment to give them back. It’s not a great way to start a Monday. In this session, Keshnie walks your team through what it is and how to stay calm and ready.

Knowledge really is power here. A team that knows what to look for is one of the best defences a business can have.

About half of ransomware attacks start with a dodgy email. In Sophos’s 2026 survey, malicious email and phishing were the top two root causes.

What your team will learn

  • How to recognise ransomware and the different ways it attacks
  • How an attack affects people at work, not just computers
  • How ransomware sneaks its way onto your systems
  • What an infection can cost your business
  • How the criminals make money from these attacks
  • What to do, step by step, if an attack happens

How an attack unfolds, and where training steps in

  1. A dodgy email lands

  2. Someone clicks

  3. Files get locked

  4. A payment is demanded

Training works best at step one and two. That’s where a team that knows what to look for makes all the difference.

Meet Keshnie

Keshnie is a Microsoft Certified Trainer with over 10 years of experience, and she has trained more than 1,000 people. Her approach: a relaxed room, no silly questions, and lots of practice on the kind of work you actually do.

How it works

  1. Tell us about your team

A quick chat about your people, your tools and what worries you.

  2. We suggest a mix

Online lessons, a live workshop, or both. You choose what fits.

  3. Training gets going

Lessons and practice emails roll out. Nobody gets a telling-off.

  4. You see the progress

Simple reports show how your team is improving.

If a click goes wrong, three things to do

Everyone clicks the wrong thing eventually. What matters is what happens next.

Stay calm

Panic helps nobody, least of all your files.

Tell IT straight away

The sooner it’s reported, the easier it is to limit the damage.

Don’t hide it

Nobody gets a telling-off for speaking up.

Bexie, the NETCONFIG mascot

Bexie’s tip: if something looks dodgy, don’t click and don’t panic. Tell someone in IT. A quick “is this weird?” beats a very long week, every time.

Why train everyone?

Everyone has an inbox

From reception to the boardroom, anybody can receive a dodgy email. So everybody benefits from knowing what to look for.

Confidence, not fear

Our approach is practical and friendly. We want your team to feel capable, not scared.

Questions people ask us

What is cybersecurity awareness training?

It teaches everyday staff to spot scams, dodgy links and risky habits before they cause trouble. Good training is short, practical and friendly. It mixes lessons, practice phishing emails and clear steps for what to do when something looks off.

How often should my team do it?

Little and often works better than one long session a year. The online platform keeps short lessons coming automatically, and live workshops can be repeated whenever your team needs a refresher or new people join.

What is a phishing simulation, and will my team feel tricked?

It sends your team safe, fake scam emails. If someone clicks, they get a quick, friendly lesson instead of a telling-off. You see where more support is needed. Nothing is harmed, and everyone learns what the real thing looks like.

Is staff training part of POPIA?

POPIA has no training checklist, but section 19 expects “appropriate, reasonable technical and organisational measures” to protect personal information. The regulations also make your Information Officer responsible for ensuring internal awareness sessions are conducted. Training is a practical way to show you’re taking this seriously.

What should someone do if they click a bad link?

Stay calm and tell your IT support straight away. Please don’t try to hide it. The sooner it’s reported, the easier it is to limit the damage. Our ransomware workshop walks your team through these steps so nobody freezes on the day.

How much does it cost?

It depends on how many people you want to train and whether you choose online lessons, a live workshop or both. Tell us about your team and we’ll give you a clear quote, with no surprises.

Keen to get your team cyber-savvy?

Tell us a little about your team and we’ll chat through the options. No pressure, no jargon, just a friendly conversation.
