Business Intelligence Services & Power BI | NETCONFIG

Business intelligence services and Power BI dashboards, minus the spreadsheet stress

Our business intelligence services connect the numbers you already have (Excel, your accounting system, your CRM) into clear dashboards your whole team can read on any device. So Monday meetings start with answers, not with "hang on, let me check the spreadsheet".

  • Works on your laptop, tablet and phone
  • Lives inside your Microsoft 365
  • Dedicated technicians throughout South Africa

What does NETCONFIG's business intelligence service actually do?

NETCONFIG builds Microsoft Power BI dashboards that pull your sales, finance, stock and operations data into one secure, up-to-date view. We connect your data sources, design dashboards around the questions you actually ask, train your team and keep everything running inside your Microsoft 365 environment, for businesses across South Africa.

From scattered to simple

Your numbers today

  • Excel spreadsheets
  • Your accounting system
  • Your CRM and other systems

One clear view

  • A Power BI dashboard
  • Refreshed automatically
  • Secure, with the right access

Your team

  • On the laptop
  • On the phone
  • Inside Microsoft Teams

Sound familiar? If any of these made you sigh, a good dashboard can help.

The Monday spreadsheet shuffle

Someone spends half a morning copying numbers into a report that's out of date by lunchtime.

Three versions of the truth

Sales has one number, finance has another, and the meeting turns into a maths debate.

Driving by the rear-view mirror

You only find out a month went sideways once the month is over.

Gut feel, fingers crossed

Big decisions get made on instinct because the facts are too hard to find.

What you get when your numbers finally behave

Business intelligence (BI) simply means turning the data you already collect into clear pictures you can act on. Here's what that looks like with us:

Dashboards built around your questions

"Who owes us money?" "Which products are slowing down?" We start with your questions, not with fancy charts.

Your data, connected

Excel, SharePoint, databases and business systems all in one place.

Numbers that refresh themselves

Scheduled refreshes mean no more copy-and-paste. Open the dashboard and it's already up to date.

The right numbers for the right people

Sales sees sales, managers see their branch, and payroll stays private. Access is set up inside your Microsoft 365.

Training in plain English

Short, friendly sessions so your team can filter, drill down and ask better questions. See our user adoption training.

Looked after afterwards

New report needed? Something stopped refreshing? You call the same team.

Ideas for your first dashboard

  • Cash flow and debtors
  • Sales by rep, region and product
  • Stock levels and slow movers
  • Branch or site performance
  • Service desk and job tracking

What a dashboard can look like

Think of it as the one screen you open to see how things are going, without asking anyone to "pull a report".

  • Summary tiles for the numbers you check every day
  • Charts you can click to dig into the detail
  • Filters by branch, product, month or person
  • Opens in your browser, in Teams or on your phone

How it works: four steps, no jargon

  1. A free data chat

Tell us what you wish you knew each week. Bring the spreadsheet you're tired of rebuilding.

  2. We map your data

We check where your numbers live, how tidy they are, and which Power BI licences you already have.

  3. Your first dashboard

We build one useful dashboard first, then improve it with your feedback.

  4. Train, tweak, look after

We train your team, keep refreshes healthy and add new reports as your questions grow.

Why get your dashboards from your IT partner?

Specialist data firms are great at data-engineering projects. If you'd rather have one team that already knows your systems, that's us. Power BI doesn't have to be a huge project either: start with one dashboard and grow from there.

We already speak Microsoft 365

Power BI lives alongside your Teams, SharePoint and Excel, the same environment we support every day through our managed IT services and cloud solutions.

Security and backups included

Dashboards are only useful if the data behind them is safe. Our cyber security and data protection teams have your back.

One number to call

No finger-pointing between your IT company and your report builder.

Plain-English people

We explain things the way you'd explain them to a friend, and we're happy to answer the "silly" questions. They're rarely silly.

Questions people ask about business intelligence

What is business intelligence, in plain English?

Business intelligence (BI) means pulling the numbers you already have, from accounting, sales, stock or support systems, into one place and showing them as simple, up-to-date dashboards. Instead of building a spreadsheet every Monday, you open one screen and see what's happening and what needs attention.

What is Power BI?

Power BI is Microsoft's tool for building interactive reports and dashboards. It connects to sources like Excel, business systems and databases, refreshes the numbers automatically, and works in a browser, in Microsoft Teams and on your phone.

Do we need to buy Power BI licences?

Building reports in Power BI Desktop is free. To share dashboards, each person viewing them usually needs a Power BI Pro licence. Microsoft's Power BI pricing update set Pro at USD 14 per user per month from 1 April 2025 (up from USD 10). Some Microsoft 365 plans already include it, so we check what you have before you buy anything.

Is our data safe, and what about POPIA?

Your dashboards live inside your own Microsoft 365 environment instead of spreadsheets emailed around. We set up who can see what, so personal information is only visible to the people who need it. We'll help you think through POPIA when personal information is involved, and your information officer stays responsible for compliance.

How long does a first dashboard take?

It depends mostly on how tidy your data is. After the free data chat, we give you a clear plan and timeline before any work starts.

Can Microsoft Copilot help with our reports?

It can, with the right setup. Copilot in Power BI helps create report pages and summarise what the numbers are saying. Microsoft's Copilot for Power BI overview says it needs a paid Fabric capacity (F2 or higher) or Power BI Premium (P1 or higher), and a Pro licence on its own isn't enough. We'll tell you honestly whether it's worth it for your business.

We live in Excel. Do we have to give it up?

Not at all. Excel is often where we start. Power BI can read your existing spreadsheets, so nothing is wasted. You just stop rebuilding the same report every week.

Do you only support businesses near Durban?

No. Our head office is at 28 Essex Terrace, Westville, Durban, and our dedicated technicians support businesses throughout South Africa. Most dashboard work happens online over Microsoft Teams anyway.

Moo! You found me. Be exceptional in everything, even your Monday report.
