The Cloud – The Future Bit by Bit by Gavin Langley

We will all agree that on at least one occasion perhaps at a braai or Family gathering someone mentioned “ The Cloud” and that they make use of this Cloud on a daily.

This mysterious location in the sky that magically stores all our information is nothing new and the terminology and technology has been around for years. I can personally say that I have had numerous questions from family members and friends about this mysterious cloud location and what it is.

Here at Netconfig we try and simplify this mysterious cloud entity everybody has so many questions about. We strive to unpack this technology and keep it straightforward and to the point. Cloud Computing or as most people know it “The Cloud” empowers people to be and do so much more with less.

From hosting servers and applications for businesses to improve uptime, provide scalability and  make life easier to helping the average Joe save all their important safari photos to OneDrive “the cloud” has a solution for everything.  We believe that as much as “The cloud” is the future there is always room for improvement and innovation in this space.

Each day presents a new challenge but also an opportunity to do something better in the world of Cloud. The flexibility provided in this space allows endless options and ways to overcome problems. The following popular deployment methods (To name a few) allows us to empower our customers to do and be more.

Hybrid Cloud: This option allows for more flexibility in terms of being able to make use of all the new bells and whistles on the cloud platform but still keep the existing environment due to applications or domain dependencies. Marrying the old with the new does add more complexity but at the same time it allows your business to move with the times and evolve and grow by empowering your working staff with more powerful tools. Examples of this include hosting your company’s critical data on Sharepoint for added security and simplifying remote access. Backing up user’s data to cloud storage like Onedrive on work devices and locking down corporate devices via Intune

Full Cloud (cloud only):  This option allows you to be at the forefront of cloud computing. Allows you to fully host your business in the cloud, play around with the latest and greatest and grow as the cloud industry grows. Azure , Entra ID, Exchange Online, Sharepoint just to name a few are platforms that you can leverage to streamline your business. Gone are the days of worrying about your physical servers falling over causing hours of lost productivity.

“The Cloud” is here and it is time to fully embrace it with open arms.
