Who this course is for

Anyone who opens a spreadsheet most days and thinks, “There must be a quicker way.” Admin, finance, operations, sales, HR and project teams all get something out of it, and so does anyone who’s been handed “the spreadsheet” and quietly hopes nobody asks them to change it.

By the end of the day, you’ll have skills you can use on Monday morning.

Excel Intermediate questions, answered

What’s the difference between Excel Basic, Intermediate and Advanced?

Level 1 teaches you to create, format and print a spreadsheet. Level 2 covers functions, lists, tables, charts and PivotTables. Level 3 is for people who build reports and want to go further with lookups such as XLOOKUP, data validation and linked workbooks.

How long is the course?

One day. Your trainer confirms the start and finish times when you book.

Do I need to do Level 1 first?

Not if you can already create and format a spreadsheet, use simple formulas like SUM and use Excel most days. The quick level check on this page will point you in the right direction.

Do I get a certificate?

Yes. You can choose an Attendance Certificate, or a Certificate of Competency after a short assessment on what we cover in this Intermediate course.

Is the course SAQA accredited?

Our courseware is aligned to SAQA unit standard 116940 (NQF Level 3). Aligned means the content follows that standard. If you need a credit-bearing option, ask us and we’ll confirm what is available.

Can you train my team at our office?

Yes. Your team can train at our head office at 28 Essex Terrace, Westville, Durban, at your own office, or live online. We provide support throughout South Africa via dedicated technicians, so tell us where you are and we’ll plan the rest.

Is XLOOKUP covered?

Lookups are covered in Level 3. XLOOKUP works in Excel for Microsoft 365, Excel 2021 and later, and Excel for the web. It does not work in Excel 2016 or 2019.

Are PivotTables covered?

Yes. Lesson 5 covers PivotTables and PivotCharts, including timelines and slicers.

How much does it cost?

Pricing is quoted per person, excluding VAT, and depends on the venue and group size. Ask for a quote and we’ll reply with dates and options.
